[UPDATED] EGP #007 Website development for the Russian-speaking Eco Community

Introduction and Problem Statement:

To date, the ECO has created unique sites and resources:
https://eco.org/
https://eco.gm
https://forum.eco.com/
https://docs.eco.org/
https://governance.eco.org/
https://eco.com/
https://eco.vg/
https://holaeco.blog/
Discord server

But it is difficult for new participants to understand so much information, resources and it makes onboarding and “getting into” the ECO project very difficult.
This proposal outlines the need in the Eco community for a central source of Eco relevant information and updates for our non-English speaking members. Currently all of the communications, resources and updates coming from the Eco Association are provided to the broader community in English. While this is the most effective means of distributing information to as broad an audience as possible, given the large numbers of non-native English speakers in our community (most notably Russian and Ukrainian) it is clear that a comprehensive and current resource, accessible in the native language of a large segment of our community would be highly valuable.
Prior to launch, Eco community member k3100690pdi#0012 was providing this service via https://www.eco-faq.online/ This website provided our Ukrainian and Russian community with translated documents and information that made keeping track of developments in the Eco protocol much easier for non-native English speakers.
Given the broad support for a similar proposal submitted by k3100690pdi#0012 earlier this year it is clear that this is a resource our community views as a Public Good and would like to see updated and continued.

Taking into consideration that ECO is in the early stage of formation, new participants will join ECO and it is necessary to help them get acclimated as quickly as possible. This means giving them access to get basic knowledge about Eco and the means of starting participate in the project, However many new (and existing) community members are ESL and it is difficult for them to understand the ECO server. That’s why the site https://www.eco-faq.online and the calendar Events - Eco Academy will be the best single source for Russian-speaking participants to get this information. We want https://www.eco-faq.online to work in the ECO system and to be an important center for development of other ECO ideas/directions.

The website is actively used by many new members, as we can see by the statistics - every month the site is visited by at least 1500-2000 people. Maximum number of visits per month was more than 39Кpeople.

Schedule of visits to the site.

Further, considering one of the primary mandates of the Eco Association is to support the development of tools, infrastructure and and services that will assist the Eco community in effectively governing the Eco Protocol, it seems warranted that it should assist in this effort.

Proposal:
To fund an initial month of development for https://www.eco-faq.online/ and based on performance and community sentiment, fund the ongoing support for this project.
Based on the estimated time dedicated to the ECO FAQ Online site along with Calendar updates from the initial proposal (15 hours) and adding an assumed additional 2 hours per week of updating currently incorrect information, design improvements and other necessary work to optimize the site, we suggest an estimate of 17 hours per week at the proposed rate of $28 per hour.
This equates to $476 per week, $2062 per month or roughly 100,000 $ECO.

Monitoring the use of grant funds:
We are requesting a grant of 100,000 ECO tokens per month.
Funding will come from the Community Treasury.
For a fair and transparent payment scheme, we propose to split the funding into several stages.

Stage 1:
Duration: 1 month.

  • 50% (50,000 ECO tokens) to allocate from the moment the application is approved.
  • 50% (50,000 ECO tokens) allocated at the end of the first month, based on the quality of work.
At the end of the first month, the quality of the work will be assessed by Trusted members. and f the first stage is successful, we will proceed to the second stage. The work will be evaluated in accordance with the Requirements listed above.

Stage 2:
Duration: 5 months

  • 20% (100,000 ECO tokens) will be allocated from the moment the application is approved.
  • 20% (100,000 ECO tokens) allocated at the end of the first month, based on the quality of the work.
  • 20% (100,000 ECO tokens) allocated at the end of the second month, based on the quality of the work.
  • 20% (100,000 ECO tokens) allocated at the end of the fourth month, according to the results of the quality of work.
  • 20% (100,000 ECO tokens) allocated at the end of the fifth month, based on the quality of the work.
The Trusted members will evaluate the quality of the work at the end of this 5 month cycle and determine if the continuation of work is warranted…
Trusted members. have a right at any time to request a report on the work done, to make their wishes/comments.

Executors are obliged to correct remarks/recommendations as soon as possible and provide a progress report.
The list of Trusted members is listed at the bottom of the document.

Algorithm of Grant Calculation
In this section the algorithm for calculating the grant is described.
For the basis was taken the average market calculation of hourly pay in the amount of 28 $/hour, also it should be taken into account that the writing of author’s materials have additional value.
In order to form such a price we analyzed such projects:
https://gov.goldfinch.finance/t/gip-08-new-community-management-roles-and-backpay/834
https://gov.indexcoop.com/t/october-2022-rewards-distribution/4449
SushiSwap Hiring Guidelines V4 - Proposals - SushiSwap

Payment comparison
In our calculation, we pay per hour, not per word. According to the price list of Translation Rates in 2023 - How Translation Services Are Priced , 1 word translation costs 22 cents, while our price per hour is $28. We can translate about 500 words per hour, which means we save almost 4 times as much money.
The final translation will be checked for quality by a professional translator. The quality will be at the highest level.

Requirements:
● All materials, links and resources appearing on https://www.eco-faq.online/ will be grammatically correct, consistent in tone, accurate and up to date.
● The community calendar will be kept up to date, including:
○ Events hosted by Eco Association members.
○ Relevant Governance Cycle Dates.
○ Relevant Monetary Policy Cycle Dates.
○ Layer 3 hosted Events / Bounties / Challenges.
● Calendar will appear in Local Time.
● This is a site specifically for information regarding the Eco Protocol, not the Eco App. This distinction will be made very clear to new and existing members.
● All instructions and explainers will be accurate and up to date.
● Discord Roles in the Ecommunity and their descriptions will be current.
● Materials created by other community members will be properly cited.
● Links to current publications and resources will be available.

I support this proposal, Russian-speaking community of ECO is large and active, and translated content will be very popular. This proposal is important for ECO growth and should receive broad support.

Wow, love the site. Would love to be able to read what is there. Any chance for an English translation?

Thank you for your feedback.
Previously there was a separate branch in English (you can see it in the Archive section) If necessary, we will make a version in English as well.

I support this proposal, I see several positive influences:

  1. Indeed, there are so many Russian-speaking audience in the project that they need a website that helps everyone in onboarding (ordered information in one place);
  2. The result of the implementation of proposal - a website, can be an example (template) for other language versions;
  3. There are many resources on the Internet that talk about ECO (articles on the medium, videos on YouTube, etc.) It will be a great solution to combine everything on one website (integrate videos or give links to them from the site, give links to other articles) and most importantly confirm (having previously checked) the reliability and relevance of information previously created and posted on various resources (or refute), in Russian.

I have a technical question. How everything will look. In 2 months after the release of the token, a lot has changed and the statistics have become a little different. Here we are not talking about the nation. If done as it was before, text and illustrations will not be enough. Need mini video. I’ve been talking about this for half a year now. Many will not accept information, even if these sites exist.

Examples of metamask, golden

We plan to create all the necessary tools for the community: instructions, video guides, Ama records, knowledge tests, etc.

I would also recommend expanding the Holaeco. It is not necessary to do only interviews, you can also post mini notes in the journal like the parade of facts, news about cryptocurrency, press releases about the work done by the prefects, etc.

I like this idea, active participants of this promotional node need to keep the local community informed, submit relevant data in time

That’s a great start! I welcome this proposal and suggest that we think about:

  1. A system of accountability to the community;
  2. On the system of distribution of funds allocated to this activity (multisig, for example) according to the results of the agreement of the work done according to the reporting from point 1.

“Merged” with Events this project may become something special in the industry. One of the problems the existing crypto projects do fail to solve when it comes to onboarding, their docs/wiki comprised of only static info is just an ‘ad’ like ‘why you may want to buy our token’. Your different approach to always keep the users engaged not only with crypto related things but also with fun is what others may want to implement too. But there’s something important, the project is essentially building an ECO adoption mechanism that blazes a trail for future non-Russian speaking communities, thus higher adoption rate – it is exactly what the Eco-nomy needs as a great onboarding experience and the knowledge for future growth. Supported!

Like many members of the ECO community, I have repeatedly used the site https://www.eco-faq.online, where all the relevant information on the ECO project is collected in one place.
You created this site at the very beginning of the discord activity, not counting on a reward, but every work useful for the project should be adequately paid.
I will support your proposal.
For the quick adaptation of new ECO participants, such a site is simply necessary. I think that the English version of this site will not be superfluous.

I also fully support this initiative, in the future it will be the basis for other sites about Eco. Also, we can always make adjustments after some time, constantly improving the site.

@Dave_Eco, what would be the next step for grant authors to get the proposal started and the website up and running?

Friends, when can we finally start implementing this project by giving it a grant?

Let me explain, in our work we (DAO of Locals from all over the world, called Shegby - a Web 3 Concierge Service) constantly communicate with communities (with community owners and often with many developers) around the world, of course, we support ECO and even use Points (and we plan to already connect $ECO Token for payment) within our community and to the web-app.

We are often asked what kind of ECP is? and Where to read about them, about the token and about the Points?

Of course, we refer everyone to English sites (and there are several of them), but it would be cool to have one, the one that K3pdi described and one that could be translated and supported in languages: German, Spanish, Vietnamese, Hindi and Hebrew. In general, it is in our (Shegby’s) power to connect Portuguese and Turkish to the translations of ECO’s materials!
Can you imagine what a huge number of people speak these languages?

And YES, those translations that are made by @MikeWeb ECO Hours - Google Docs are just a content for such a multilingual site (in no way replace the need for a website)!

So what and who needs to do to start work on K3pdi proposal?
